LED lighting has numerous advantages over the conventional lighting such as - safety, colour, visual comfort, reduced glare etc. and with an affordable solution such as GreenLine Smart, we are the first in the industry to offer these benefits to our clients at a payback of less than three years”, said, Jitendra Agrawal, Head, Professional Channel, Philips Lighting India.
According to frost & Sullivan, street lighting is by far the biggest market segment for LED-based lighting due to its clear advantages and relevance of application. Philips has already bagged a few good projects for its existing range of LED street lighting solution and this includes: Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Pune Municipal Corporation, Bhatinda Development Authority, Amritsar Municipal Corporation, Pune-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Haldia Development Authority.
Today, cities account for 70 per cent of global energy consumption, of which 15 per cent of energy consumed is attributed to street lighting. Philips Greenline Smart enables 50% energy saving over CFL-I or the conventional Tubelight based lighting solutions which amounts to approx savings of Rs. 500 per annum and is also maintenance free for more than 9 years. LEDs can help reduce CO2 emissions considerably, they contain no lead or mercury and do not emit any radiated heat (IR). LEDs have an extremely long life and this new solution lasts about 2-3 times longer than the traditional fluorescent-based street lighting products.
Philips Greenline Smart has been locally developed to address the need for replacing the higher capacity street lights in urban areas in India. It has features such as Ingress Protection â€" IP65, which means it is water and dust resistant for life, and this luminaire can handle high voltage fluctuations ranging between 100-300V. The Greenline Smart luminaires have various applications such as use in secondary/residential roads, shopping & pedestrian areas, parks and gardens, industrial areas, parking areas and other open areas.
According to Aditi Dass, Director of Technologies India, The Climate Group, “White light LED street lighting enables citizens to enjoy city life safely after sunset. Solutions such as this one by Philips, address the needs of public administrators who desire to make their city an iconic one by making smart decision of purchasing green lighting solutions that are highly energy efficient, reliable and maintenance free and consequently give better return on the public money invested”.
Globally and in India, Philips is helping governments to establish live-able cities that are safer, greener and more enjoyable for citizens to live in. This requires intelligent and sustainable lighting solutions for various applications, spaces and segments. Thus, Philips is expanding its locally relevant and locally developed commercial lighting range portfolio to offer affordable LED-based indoor and outdoor lighting products across Offices, Industries, Retail, Hospitality and Infrastructure applications to help build more sustainable & safer cities.
